RE: HB 2294 & SB 903
Dear Governor Youngkin,
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this communication. I hope that you will see fit to send these bills back for further revisions for all Virginian’s.
We want to keep all Virginian’s safe as well, but we also want to keep our VA hemp/CBD businesses in business and us consumers benefiting from CBD rich products.
We would like to see the bills change in the following ways:
- By limiting dosage to just 2 mg THC per ‘package’, you are limiting the efficacy of the product, making VA products immediately uncompetitive with out of state manufacturers, making our own products illegal (this removes 90% of hemp derived products, ie; most dog treats will be illegal)
- Separate legal Hemp from the real issue at hand - synthetic THC, or Delta 8, that can be found in some hemp products. And the surge of calls to poison centers related to children ingesting edibles and decided to act
We plead that making the distinction between hemp, marijuana and synthetic/processed delta products be a priority.
